Custom Software Development
We codeup the system your business needs, whether that is replacing a tangle of spreadsheets or launching the first version of your product.
CodeUp | Custom Software Development
Two kinds of teams, two kinds of problem.
You do not need a technical team or a finished spec. You need to know what is slowing you down or what you want to launch.
Small businesses
You run on spreadsheets, email and a handful of apps that do not talk to each other. Things work, but only because certain people remember how.
- The same data is typed into two or three places
- Per-user fees keep rising as you hire
- Your off-the-shelf tool cannot handle one important step
- Customers ask for things you can only do by hand
Startups
You have an idea and need real software in front of real users, fast, without spending your runway on features nobody asked for.
- You need an MVP to test the idea with customers
- Investors or pilot customers want to see a working product
- You have no technical co-founder, or too little time
- Your no-code prototype is reaching its limits
Custom is not always the answer. Here is how to tell.
If an existing tool does the job, we will say so. Many of our best recommendations are to buy.
Off-the-shelf software
- Fit
- Built for the average business. You adapt your process to the tool.
- Getting started
- Fast. Sign up and begin the same day.
- Cost over time
- Low to start, but per-user fees grow as your team does.
- Connections
- Limited to the integrations the vendor offers.
- Ownership
- You rent access. The vendor sets the features and the price.
- Advantage
- The same tool your competitors can use.
Custom software
- Fit
- Built around your process, your terms and your data.
- Getting started
- Slower. It has to be scoped and built first.
- Cost over time
- Higher to start, with no per-user licence fees. You pay for hosting and upkeep.
- Connections
- Connects to anything with an API or an export.
- Ownership
- You own the code and decide what changes next.
- Advantage
- Can encode the way you work, which others cannot copy.
- The task is common, like email, payroll or basic accounting
- A good tool exists at a price you are happy to pay
- Your process is standard and the tool fits it
- Your way of working is what sets you apart
- You are joining three or more tools together with spreadsheets
- Licence fees are climbing faster than your revenue
- The software itself is the product you want to sell
Real systems for everyday business.
A few of the tools small teams ask us for most.
Customer and order management
Every customer, quote and order in one record, with history anyone on the team can find.
Booking and scheduling
Online booking with reminders, staff calendars and deposits, built around your own rules.
Inventory and suppliers
Stock levels that update as you sell, with low-stock alerts and purchase orders.
Quotes and invoicing
Price lists and quotes that follow your pricing logic, with invoices sent and tracked automatically.
Customer portals
A login where customers check status, download documents and pay, so fewer questions reach your inbox.
Reports and dashboards
Sales, jobs and cash in one view, pulled from live data instead of rebuilt in a spreadsheet each month.
Workflow automation
Approvals, reminders and hand-offs that run on their own and ask a person only when needed.
Startup MVPs
The smallest working product that proves your idea, with sign-up, payments and analytics included.
From idea to first customers, in five steps.
Each step has a clear output, so you can stop, adjust or continue before spending more.
Validate
We talk through who will pay and find the smallest version that tests the idea.
Prototype
Clickable screens you can show to customers and investors before any code is written.
Build the MVP
Only the core features, delivered in short cycles you can try as they land.
Launch
Go live with sign-up, payments, analytics and monitoring ready to use.
Iterate
Real usage and feedback decide what to build next, not guesses.
Clear terms, no lock-in.
What owners usually ask first.
How much does custom software cost?
It depends on the scope, so we do not quote a number before we understand the problem. After a short discovery we give you a written estimate, broken into phases, so you can decide stage by stage.
How long does it take?
A focused internal tool can be ready in weeks. A full product usually takes months. Either way you see working software early and often, not only at the end.
I do not have a spec. Is that a problem?
No. Most clients start with a problem, not a document. We help you turn it into a short list of features in the first conversations.
Can it work with the tools I already use?
Usually yes. If a tool has an API or can export data, we can connect to it, and we can import your existing spreadsheets so you do not start from zero.
What if my needs change halfway?
They will, and that is normal. Because we build in short cycles, you can reorder or swap features at the start of each one.
Who looks after it once it is live?
We can, on a monthly plan that covers hosting, security updates and fixes. Or we hand it to your own developer with full documentation.
Tell us what is slowing you down.
A few lines is enough. We reply within one business day, tell you honestly whether custom software is the right move and suggest a first step.
